The Shylock Black Steel Geometric Console Table brings raw industrial character to your entryway or living room with a handcrafted metal frame and artisan-minimal finish. A console table is a narrow, elongated piece of furniture designed to sit against a wall, providing display and storage space without taking up much floor depth -- making it ideal for hallways, foyers, and behind sofas. This Shylock console table from Noir is available at Sideboards and Things with free shipping, combining modern geometry with the honest beauty of exposed steel.
The elongated 60-inch width offers generous room for keys, decor, or table lamps, while the shallow 15-inch depth keeps it tight to the wall in entryways and behind sectionals. The matte black finish pairs beautifully with both warm wood tones and cooler concrete or marble accents, making it a versatile anchor for console tables in the foyer or alongside coffee tables in the living room. At 30 inches tall, it sits just below waist height, perfect for styling vignettes or layering mirrors and art above.
Handcrafted with attention to raw material and clean lines, this piece celebrates the honest beauty of industrial steel without unnecessary embellishment. The solid ovoid base provides both visual weight and stability, while the rounded edges of the rectangular top soften the geometric silhouette. Pair it with other metal accents like bar height tables for an urban loft aesthetic, or use it to introduce industrial contrast against upholstered dining table sets in an open-plan home.
Useful console for an office entry
A great surface for an office reception area, the industrial steel construction feels purposeful and durable for regular use. The artisan metalwork brings small variations that make the piece feel a bit more personal than a plain metal table.
Sturdy but heavy to move
The 148-pound industrial-steel frame feels very solid, but note that weight means it's heavy to move and will need two people to reposition. The matte black finish resists fingerprints, which is handy for a high-traffic spot like a hallway.
Handcrafted metal gives unique character
The artisan-crafted metal work creates subtle variations across pieces, so each one has a slightly different look. Works well behind a sofa in the living room where the industrial steel frame can stand up to daily use.
Good fit for a bedroom vanity
As a bedroom surface under a mirror, the clean lines of the industrial steel work nicely without overwhelming the space. The matte black finish keeps reflections down and the handcrafted details add subtle interest.
Not quite what the photos showed Shylock Black
The piece is serviceable, but the color variation was more noticeable in person than it looked online. Delivery also took longer than expected, which made the whole experience less positive.
