Alden 84.5" Solid Wood 5-Shelf Open Shelving Unit

An etagere is an open shelving unit with multiple tiers, designed to display books, decorative objects, plants, and collectibles without the enclosed back panel of a traditional bookcase--perfect for tight corners and alcoves where you need vertical storage that doesn't block sightlines. The Mercana Alden 84.5-inch solid wood 5-shelf open shelving unit is a tall narrow etagere that organizes dishware, books, and decorative accessories while maintaining an airy feel, available at Sideboards and Things with free shipping. At 81 inches tall and only 19 inches deep, the Alden uses vertical space efficiently in narrow entryways, behind sofas, or alongside dining room furniture where a traditional sideboard won't fit.

Why Choose a Solid Wood Etagere from Sideboards and Things?

The open back design lets light pass through and keeps the room feeling spacious, while five solid wood shelves hold genuine weight--think stacks of hardcover books, ceramic vases, or rows of serving platters you'd normally tuck inside closed cabinetry. Pair this 5-tier unit with pieces from our etagere collection to create a library wall, or mix it into a living room alongside consoles and buffets from our furniture range to add curated display space without visual clutter. The medium brown finish complements reclaimed-wood sideboards and farmhouse dining tables, and the narrow 19-inch depth makes it an ideal choice for hallways or behind-sofa alcoves where floor space is tight.

The Alden measures 84.5 inches wide, 19 inches deep, and 81 inches high, with five evenly spaced open shelves for storage and display.

How do you style an open etagere shelf?

Style an open etagere by varying object heights, mixing books with decorative pieces, using baskets for concealed storage, and leaving some shelves partially empty to avoid visual clutter.

Does this shelving unit ship assembled?

Most pieces at Sideboards and Things ship fully assembled and standard curbside delivery is free; white-glove in-room placement and setup are available upon request for an additional fee.

How do I care for a solid wood finish?

Wipe solid wood with a soft, dry cloth and avoid harsh chemicals or excess moisture; occasional application of furniture polish or wax designed for natural wood helps maintain the medium brown finish over time--detailed guidance is available on our About Us page.
